What drives your business and success? How did you get into this line of work?
I have always enjoyed the creativity and drive required to be self-employed. I also appreciate having the license to change the direction of service as needed without a lot of proverbial hoops. When you are running a small business for yourself, you are never short on opportunities to highly personalize your delivery for each of your clients. It's rewarding for everyone.
Growing up, I looked forward to walking through my dad's spec projects with him and always kept tabs on all the local building projects around us. After graduating from Western, I found myself accidentally running restaurants instead of pursuing my interest in design and construction. I stayed commited to restaurant ownership and management for16 years and eventually I was ready to switch gears. I loved the restaurant scene but I also knew that I wanted a business that utilized skills more natural to me, which are more spatial and design oriented than food service oriented.
